At the National Portrait Gallery in London next Thursday, December 7th, at 7 pm, Philip Hoare, author and co-editor of "Pet Shop Boys Catalogue", will present "Pet Shop Boys: Pop Art". 'Are the Pet Shop Boys art, or are they just arty?' asked Blitz magazine back in the 1990s. From Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward to Derek Jarman and Sam Taylor-Wood, using images from the Pet Shop Boys' two decades of pop and photographs from the National Portrait Gallery's archive, Hoare will discuss Pet Shop Boys, art and literature. Catch the essential PSB exhibition in the neighbouring gallery at the same time.
Also at the NPG on Thursday, January 11th, 2007, at 7pm, Neil Tennant will discuss the creation of the Pet Shop Boys' image and their work with leading photographers with Philip Hoare and Michael Bracewell, the writer and cultural commentator, author of "The Nineties: When Surface was Depth".
Tickets for each event are £5 each and £3 for concessions. To book tickets call 020 7306 0055.
