Pet Shop Boys will headline a very special event in Berlin on June 28, playing a 40-minute live set.
The event, “This Is Navalny”, will also include performances by Russian musicians including the duo Aigel, the singer Grechka and classical musicians, as well as a live meeting with Yulia Navalnaya (the widow of Alexei Navalny and head of the Anti-Corruption Foundation which her husband founded), a screening of the Oscar-winning documentary film “Navalny” and a book signing.
The event, at the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, commemorates Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition leader who died in prison in Russia in 2024, and aims to bring supporters together in the fight for freedom in Russia. Profits from the event will help to support Russian political prisoners through the You Are Not Alone Foundation. All details and tickets for “This Is Navalny” can be found at the link below.
Pet Shop Boys said today: “We are very happy to give support to the alternative vision of a free and democratic Russia expressed by Alexei Navalny whose tremendous courage and spirit continue to inspire. Navalny imagined Russia, liberated from the corruption and authoritarianism of Putin, becoming a ‘prosperous, democratic country’ at peace with its neighbours. He considered Putin’s invasion of Ukraine to be ‘immoral, fratricidal and criminal’. His legacy is one of hope and optimism for change.”
