In the early 80s Chris and Neil used to drink in the basement “dive bar” of the King’s Head pub in Chinatown, Soho, and later immortalised it in “West End girls” as “a dive bar in a West End town”. Now the London Evening Standard reports that the pub will close its doors for good on March 6. That gives you (and Neil and Chris) a month to have a farewell drink in the bar that inspired one of the PSB’s biggest hits.
It’s going to be a late night! “Pet Shop Boys: Then and Now” documentary feature presented by Alan Yentob will be shown again on BBC Four tonight at 10:30pm, along with three other PSB programmes: “Pet Shop Boys at the BBC”, “Pet Shop Boys live in Hyde Park” and “Reel Stories: Pet Shop Boys”.
