A hugely acclaimed Chinese film, “Mountains May Depart”, by Jia Zhangke, will be shown at the New York Film Festival this month before general release next year. The film’s opening scene is set in 1999 to the accompaniment of Pet Shop Boys’ “Go West”, “a song whose promise of blue skies captures the dreams of affluence that seized so many Chinese youth at the turn of the century.” Links to more information and to the official trailer below.
Pet Shop Boys are playing the first of five sold-out shows at the Royal Opera House in London tonight. Each performance starts at 8pm. It’s going to be an exciting week!
